The 5K run and 1 mile walk courses will begin at Shaler Area Elementary School and circle through local neighborhood streets, ending back at the school.
The Run for the Titan Trail 5k is a fundraiser to help fund the cost of a year-end reading incentive trip to Millvale Riverfront Park and Three Rivers Heritage Trail for Shaler Area Elementary School students. Free voluntary reading in our school has increased exponentially since the creation of Blazing a Titan Trail: A Reading Adventure. Students strive to read 25 books throughout the school year to attend the trip.
Blazing a Titan Trail: A Reading Adventure is a school-wide reading incentive program at Shaler Area Elementary School, an upper elementary school with 1,100 students in grades 4, 5, and 6. The program has been developed by a volunteer committee of teachers, librarians, parents, and administrators. |
